Pink Ribbon is an international movement to promote breast cancer awareness and to raise funds for breast cancer research.
The goal of the Norwegian Pink Ribbon movement is to express solidarity with those affeced by breast cancer, spread information and increase knowledge of breast cancer related issues as well as to raise funds for breast cancer research.
October has become the international breast cancer awareness month. Kreftforeningen and Foreningen for brystkreftopererte are equal partners in the Norwegian Pink Ribbon movement.
While the Pink Ribbon movement was first launched in Norway in 1999, the movement has its origins in the USA in the early 1990s as women demanded increased funding for breast cancer research. Throughout the years the initiative has grown into the international platform we know today, cowering more than 30 countries.
Throughout the world organisations, corporations and individuals engange in Pink Ribbon related activities during the month of October. Since its humble beginnings to the international movement we see today, Pink Ribbon has promoted breast cancer awareness and raised large funds for breast cancer research.
